The
Tallest Town in Oregon
at 4800 Feet above Sea Level
Lakeview, established in
1876, sits at the foot of the Warner Mountains. Here on the edge of the
southeastern Oregon high desert, Lakeview is the highest town in the
state.
Its
prime location makes Lakeview a great destination for recreational
enthusiasts. The mix of desert and mountain terrain offers countless
opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock hunting, hang gliding,
parasailing, rock
hunting, golfing and fishing, bird viewing, snow skiing (5 miles away), snow
boarding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding (stables are
available at the fairgrounds), and wild game hunting.
We have an average
of over 200 sunny days every year! Come and enjoy the natural beauty of Lake
County and avail yourself to the many outdoor activities awaiting you.
Hunter's Hot Springs is the
official landing site for the
Free Flight Hang Gliding Festival.
Ready for a game of racquetball? Come play in our regulation
size court. We have racquets and balls available, if needed.
Canadian Geese and ducks of many sorts may be seen year round on our many
ponds. Visiting birdwatchers have sighted the following in May:
Fosters Tern, Common Tern, Black Necked
Stilt, Lark Sparrow, American Kestrel, Common Snipe, Cinnamon Teal, just
to name a few.
One of the most popular tourist
attractions in Lakeview and only at Hunter's Resort is the Old Perpetual
Geyser. This geothermal wonder is like a rocket into the sky. A magnificent
site to see, the geyser is a
favorite for everyone in Lake County, whether they are traveling through, or
a resident. Take a break and sit in our relaxing (and some say, healing)
waters from the geyser which can only be found at Hunter's Hot Spring's
Resort.
